Our Friday morning walks are between 4 and 5 miles; usually leaving from a pub or café; over a moderate terrain where possible and lasting about 2½ hours. Around the halfway point we stop briefly for a 'banana break'.
Walks are planned, researched and led by the group members ensuring a wide variety of locations. It is expected that each member will lead a walk at least once per year. This is usually in conjunction with another group member and will involve either leading a new route or selecting an existing one from our library of about fifty walks. As part of arranging their walk the leader will liaise with the pub or café to leave cars in their car park and discuss refreshments.
Walks normally start and finish at a pub or café. This being so, walkers are encouraged to car share to minimise the spaces taken on the car park and to maintain a greener footprint. Walkers using these car parks are expected to stay for some refreshments in the pub or café afterwards or join, what is usually the majority, for a snack or light lunch and a chat after the walk. Good relationships with the proprietors are best maintained when we don't just take up spaces which could be used by their paying customers.
Brief details of forthcoming walks are below. An email will be sent to each member over the weekend before the next walk with more specific details.
We also offer u3a holidays with walks both in the UK and Europe. These are open to all the Worcester walking groups with walks of varying terrains and distances as well as some excursions. Details of these holidays are available from Louise Radford .
It is national u3a policy that dogs are not allowed on any u3a walks.
