The Table Tennis 1 group holds fortnightly Thursday-afternoon sessions at St Mark’s Church Hall (in the church basement) on Bath Road, with group 2 meeting there on the intervening Thursdays.
We have 3 tables and mostly play doubles, sometimes singles when there are fewer than 12 players. Games are played mostly at a relaxed pace, suiting those who wish to play less energetically. Players rotate after each game to give members ample chance to interact with a variety of partners and opponents. When more than 12 members are present, the ‘extra’ players sit out briefly before rotating into the next game.
No personal equipment is needed, as the group provides balls and has a selection of bats available for those who do not have their own. Appropriate footwear (e.g. trainers) is important.
