The general level of the group is flexible, generally between A2 and B2, which effectively is from GCSE to A level and above.
It is for Spanish enthusiasts who wish to practise conversation and other skills in a relaxed and supportive environment. In the true spirit of U3A it is a self-help and collaborative group. We function on the basis that all members are willing to lead at least one session a year and/or create a light-hearted quiz. Sessions can include conversation, listening and reading, and guidance on grammar and pronunciation. We also look at items on Spanish and South American culture for discussion.
During 2025/6 we covered a variety of conversation topics, reviewed some aspects of grammar and frequently used Spanish idioms and phrases, as well as reading through two novels. In 2026/7 will be continuing with the novel “Vecinos del Infierno” by Juan Fernández.
To allow everyone to be actively involved and contributing to conversation, the group is limited to 17 people. We will have a short waiting list for potential new members. Please contact the group leader if you wish to go onto the waiting list.
