If you have a liking for jazz, in any of its many forms, why not come along and see if you enjoy listening to first-class jazz in a friendly environment?

Our meetings explore jazz as a living musical tradition, from early New Orleans roots to swing, bebop and modern styles. Through recordings, discussion and shared memories, members consider rhythm, improvisation and the personalities who shaped the music. No expertise is needed: just curiosity, listening ears and enjoyment of jazz.

Our new Season Kicks Off!

Tony opened our new season with a selection of jazz featuring a 1923 recording of Jelly Roll Morton but played from a contemporary piano-roll transcribed onto a modern concert grand - it was absolutely amazing to hear a 103 year-old recording played faithfully on a modern piano! We progressed through Duke Ellington, Benny Goodman, Chris Barber, Hank Mobley and ending with modern jazz - a 1966 recording of Sonny Rollins playing Alfie's Theme - quite remarkable!
We really enjoyed our new spacious and bright venue, which was a definite improvement.
