Sarah’s new groups will be perfect for musicians and non musicians alike as it will provide opportunities for discovering connections between our state of health, our experience of feeling well, and music and sounds.
There are two now 2 groups running, one from 1130 to 1230 and the other from 1300 to 1400.
The sessions will to start on Tuesday September 16th and will be held fortnightly at the Elgar School of Music.
The meeting scheduled for the 25th November has been cancelled as Sarah is expected to be busy with Jury service on that day.
Music is implicated in so many different interventions relating to health and well being. We live in a technological age where music is literally at our fingertips as it accompanies us in our daily lives. Music enables us to flourish in many ways as it is engaging, communicative, emotional, social and so much more.
Please join me as we undertake a journey to discover healing, health and wellbeing in body mind and spirit, using sounds and music.
Our human bodies are a complex vibratory system which respond to different frequencies and when we are in SOUND health our resonance in physical, mental, emotional and spiritual aspects of ourselves are ‘tuned in’ and in sync with each other so that all our systems cooperate and support each other.
So in the session we will be using different applications of sounds made with instruments or our voices, we may also be working with rhythms and music to influence heartbeat and quality breathing techniques, or learning about different chakras and their resonance, or how our different brain states, in response to music, give us renewed energy or relaxation.
Music has powerful messages which affect our emotions and memories, and concentrated listening itself can bring about profound shifts in our ability to concentrate and focus.
Whilst the learning parts can be thought provoking, (so you may want to keep notes), there can also be a more relaxed and creative fun element to the sessions without any pressure. You might enjoy drawing what you hear, discovering and creating ‘new’ music, find opportunities for playing instruments together, or maybe relax in a simple mindfulness exercise while listening and tuning into the sounds of ocean waves.
I am a retired music therapist with a keen interest in sound healing and is experienced in running group sessions.
I have a wide collection of CD resources connected with sound healing such as Don Campbell’s “The Mozart Effect”, and also his programme to enhance health creativity and communication called “The Wisdom and Power of Music’; Tom Kenyon’s CD collection called “Ultimate Brain”; Jonathan Goldman’s various related CD’s; and Lyz Cooper, who has spent years combining ancient knowledge science and personal experience. I also have access to resources of many other sound practitioners.
In the last 20 years or so, several Colleges of sound healing have opened their doors to this subject - something the ancients knew much about, and we are discovering powerful, simple and effective techniques which we can practice at home to improve our state of being and ultimate good health. The proof is in the using - that sound really works.
If you have any questions or would like to talk to me about the sessions feel free to contact Sarah Chater.
